Looks like they inherited old titles from SOE like Everquest... what's the deal with them?

They didn't inherit, they are soe.
Sony sold SOE to an investment company, who then renamed it to Daybreak Game Company. Back in August, John Smeadley, the guy that co-developed EverQuest and formed the company that would become SOE, left Daybreak. At this point, who knows what new games they will make going forward.
It would be awesome if they gave us the code for soccer brawl
