My Message to Instant Vintage: Recruit one more Top-10 Marine and I'm charging you for a violation of league monopoly laws.
Let's face it, what sucked about Season 2 was that we had one squad - Special Forces - with a high concentration of talent. It frankly got boring most of the time.
Thankfully that Mega-Squad dissolved their unholy union and have now fractured into several different new or existing squads.
At the moment we have three, possibly four squads doing pre-season discussion, debate and scuttlebutt battle over who is the favorite to win the USL Championship trophy. Stay tuned early next week for the Skirmish League Live: Pre-Season Review and Power Rankings - but I'll give you a little early inside scoop...Instant Vintage will be a contender. I don't know if you've heard that yet or not.
And it's pretty easy to see why. They have an absolute bevy of brilliant marines. You legitimately have, in my view, seven players who would be in the debate for Top 10 Marines in USL for Season 3. A handful still when you narrow that debate to the Top 3 or even best Marine in the Game. That's what I call a lineup.
I have two points of concern:
First and most prevalent is in their medical department. Unless I'm missing something and Havok or Pant is playing medic (I don't advise), Manu, Stab and Navy are their three viable medics. Don't get me wrong, there's talent here - but I think it's their biggest area of weakness going into the Season.
Second - Can these marines roll together? You have a LOT of independent minds. Ninj, Devil, Yosh....When have you ever not seen one if not all of those three on a solo flank wide? Can six, insanely talented solo-flankers, rolled into a squad, act together as a unit to beat inferior opponents who are united in mind. That I think is a big question for the season to bear out. I look forward to covering it.
Player Notes:
Champion: 94
Champion can be frustrating to many in this community both in and out of the game, but one thing is undeniable, the guy can really play. The Definition of an Asset.
DeviL: 93
I played on a squad with I.D. Majin about 15 years ago. He's got better. A lot better. Easily a contendor for best overall marine in USL Season 3.
G: 91
Legend. That name suits him better. Without question one of the best marines in the league, and more impressively, the history of the game.
Trisance: 90
Trisance is likely a top 10 Marine even with his recent bouts of inactivity. Were he be consistent all season in showing on Sundays, Instant Vintage would be unstoppable.
em4awon: 87
With em4 there is almost no downside. He's a fucking great marine. Might be a little too passive sometimes - but slow and steady right?
yosh: 85
Yosh is an all-around player. Leading, Flanking, Pushing, Retreating, Accuracy, Foresight, Communication - He's got it all and he does it very well. His weakness? Consistency. He is the Jekyll and Hyde of talented marines, and which version you get is really tbd.
Prisoner: 85
On paper, you couldn't draw up a better leader, and he's a damn good marine besides. Prisoner has what the Germans call "Fingerspitzengefhl" which means an intuitive instinct for the battlefield. In addition to his tactical awareness, he is also a superb marine, great at focus fire and communicating at the same time.
Z: 84
Savage has the benefit of a perfect lag-shield, but take that away, and he's still a good marine. He's like a cockroach - you just can't kill the guy. A highly accurate, flanking marine.
Shasta: 83
Shasta McNasta (hp=1) is a perfect squad piece. He isn't a top-tier marine, but he isn't far from it. He knows his role on a squad, and plays it strong every week. While he does struggle with consistency and the occasional careless death, he's a worthy addition to any starting lineup.
Havok: 80
Coming back from a stint of inactivity, Havok could be a major player for IV if he can shake off the rust. Right now he's too inconsistent and may not make the starting lineup for Vintage, but even so he's a great 6th man off the bench.

As per usual, great analysis romulocks.
where is the thumbs up button?
It's here: http://uslzone.com/usl/view_analysis.php?type=squad&id=23
dam my boy sam not good enough to get a mention? RIP great read tho
Why would i start on our squad? I am kinda taking a step back this season so i don't mind benching. The burden shall finally be lifted. The carrier shall be carried.
That and our "developers" haven't found a solution for the terrible frame drops on EC (a map made in microsoft paint)
I am quite baffled at this last post.
I'm not going into this again but you need to start working on making this game less of a lag infested shit hole. It has to be the coding.
Or it could be you live across the ocean. Let's not throw that out of the water.
^
Also, great write rom! nice job.
"Or it could be you live across the ocean. Let's not throw that out of the water."
I get 90 ping which is less than the majority of infantry now the server is east coast?
Why does living overseas have anything to do with frame lag?
EC is not coded correctly which is why people on good pcs lag to fuck on it and on KR it's tolerable because there is no shitty laggy buildings.
Palm just stop responding or this is going to get as embarrassing as the fact you couldn't remove misfires. I'm sure Mizzouse will understand that the coding on EC needs alot of improvement.
Frame lag is purely PC and connection based. Sooooooo
I can remove misfires. But I chose not to. Happy sweet 16 btw.

Soccer brawl died earlier than it should have because the coding on the ball was never right. Without the source code we have made due and have a very playable game thanks to guys who have put in work to get this going again without getting paid for it. Any extra visible lag is probably due to your distance or this server which still isn't that great but very playable..
Unless it's possible to pool some money to get some coders good enough to help build a new 'source code' or help perfect our current code I don't see to point of bringing this up so much(especially in passive aggressive manners) if you yourself don't have a hint towards a solution.
