1. Special Forces I think you would be nave not to rank SFo as the #1 squad for the season. They have an extremely powerful starting lineup with Champion/Sov, who just might be the top 2 players in the game atm, and Kippa who is essentially the Jose Mourinho of Infantry. I still think he is one of the best leaders around and a damn decent medic. DeviL, Khaos, and Easoe are just a little faded but still better than almost anyone who plays this game. Any one of them can individually turn a battle on its head and break it open. The only weakness I see in SFo is their bench. If their starting lineup is not in, the quality of their game drops significantly, but even then it should be enough to see out the victory because they are just that good. SFo are the most positionally dominant squad, they always find themselves in the right angles at the right time and you just know theres someone flanking to get on your backside. Correct me if Im wrong, but I think since the inception of SFo they have only lost 3 matches total. With a record like that its hard to imagine SFo not winning the league. Key Player: Its widely accepted that Champion is the best marine in the game at the moment. As arrogant as he makes himself appear hes actually an awesome team player and raises everyones game around him. I can see him winning the marine award for the season. 2. Warhawks Overhyped shitty squad who think they can get in the way of SFo winning the title. But really, this is a great group of guys who I think will have a pretty comfortable time racking up wins throughout the season. Every good squad needs a strong core and NiNj/Sol/Trisance (if he shows) are just that. That trifecta alone can win you matches. When I first joined this squad I immediately felt a sense of chemistry. As a team, WH is very strong. Everyone understands what they need to be doing tactically which is a big strength on a map like KR. What really elevates our game is our medic department. Fairfax, the NML legend, is a top medic and will be in competition with kippa for the best medic award. We also have the other medic whos ugh pretty good too. If I had to pick out a weakness it would have to be in our aggression. With the squad we have, we can afford to be a bit more aggressive and be a bit more head on. But I can see our game developing as the season progresses. Key Player: NiNj is my pick for the player to keep your eye on. When Sam left a lot of the predictions dropped us to #3 and there is a reason why. Sam has a lot to offer to any squad he plays on; his aim is ridiculous and is one of the best players in close quarters combat. Once his form picks up I expect him to be in the running for the marine award. 3. Apocalypse Marks beloved Apoc is back and are looking pretty damn strong. Its a bit of a toss up for 2nd and 3rd place, but I think for now WH just edges it. We all know what Apoc is about; Mark is a very defensive leader and understands the game very well. If he plays his cards right I can definitely see Apocalypse coming out of the WH match with a win and possibly even against SFo. The tactical astuteness of this squad is what separates it from the pack. Apocs trifecta consists of Mecca, Tactical, and Omc, which is a pretty luxurious set of marines; Mecca the sneaky one, Ernie the all-round killer, and Omc as the support marine. A squad with essentially the same core as this one (snakes, tsss), almost won the title last season, so its a formula we know works well. Its up to the new additions to bring some extra oomph to their game and push on in the title race. What Apoc lacks, in order to be that championship caliber squad, is a player like xtream. Apoc is filled with underrated talent like Iceman, Omc, and possibly Shasta? What they need is a fully developed player who is a natural killer and can hit double digit kills every week. Had Champion joined Apoc (as the rumours suggested) I think they could have easily been favorites for the #1 spot. Ice has been this player for them recently and I hope his form keeps up. Key Player: Its gotta be Mecca for me. Hes got the experience and the skill to be the main man for Apoc. Hes been playing with Apollo since the dawn of Infantry so he knows exactly what he needs to do to help his team win games. Im definitely going to be checking weed wall for this bastard any time we play Apoc. 4. Tank Slowly becoming the obvious choice, but I think they will just nick it past Predators and finish above them. They had a struggling start with a lot of players dispersing (tsssssss) and ditching what looked like the #1 squad for the season. It looked hopeless a couple weeks ago for Tank, but after a lot of activity and a few revivals from the dead, they are going to be a strong force. With starting marines like Prisoner, Albert, Ender, Killer, and Yosh, thats hardly a bad squad. If Ender/Prisoner can shake off their rust, there could be some serious upsets. Their weakness is definitely their lack of depth and their medics. Jane has always been solid but can be a liability, and the remainder of the squad seems to lack USL experience. Key Player: Prisoner. If there was an Infantry Hall of Fame he would definitely be up there for me. He is one of those players that does not need to be playing on a good squad to perform well. Prisoner is unrelentingly dominant on the map and raises everyone's game around him, the sign of an innately good player. He will be the rock that the team needs to lean on and will be the source of the majority of their kills. 5. Predators Predators to me is that meal you have at the end of the week when all you have is leftovers and you throw it all together into a soup. Savage is the head of this crazy soup kitchen and has decided to bring along his rag-tag group of guys through another season of USL. Individually this squad is actually quite strong, almost every player in their starting lineup could be playing for a top 3 squad. Their weakness is quite obvious for me: lack of chemistry and lack of designated leadership. It seems like none of these players have really played with each other, except for last season, and don't know what to expect from one another during battle. From what I've heard they've been alternating leaders, but my suggestion would be to give Fausto the reigns in that department. Playing with him last season on AD was a joy and I quickly realized how clutch he can be in tight situations. He reads the game incredibly well and will probably be the difference maker throughout the season for predators. Key Player: That being said about Fausto, I think the key man to keep an eye out for will be Unborn. He's capable of racking up a good amount of kills and is pretty underrated in terms of ability; never underestimate low-reso mousers. As long as Fausto helps the team keep their form, Unborn will have the platform to unleash his skill and will hopefully perform like he did on idc. 6. Lifers Im kind of glad I waited to write up my analysis for this squad because they are definitely looking a lot stronger as of late, and holding them at #6 now seems a bit of a disservice to them. Regardless, I still feel that the teams above them are stronger, but with Darth back and ready to lead, things can get funky pretty quick. Lifers are essentially System Err0r reincarnate, a sort of purgatory for SE players that is slowly molding itself back into its original form. Pandy and ER are the heart and soul of this squad, two players who hold the potential success of the squad in their hands. I really cant think of a better duo in the game at the moment, and they just might go down as the best duo to grace infantry. Their playstyles really compliment each other, and both have a deep understanding of what the other wants to do. They can win matches on their own, and because of this I feel even more hesitant ranking Lifers as #6. Now to get my nose out of their asses, the meat of Lifers is pretty average. Its filled with experienced players who understand what it takes to win matches, but arent necessarily skilled enough. Their weakness is going to come down to whether the rest of these players can perform this season or not. I was actually really impressed with the way they handled Apoc last Sunday. If Darth was there to lead, things would be a lot gloomier for Apoc this week. Key Player: After already caressing the egos of Pandy and ER, I think Darths leading is going to be the difference maker. Hes not a fancy leader and isnt afraid to grind out results the dirty way, which works in his advantage. The fact that Darth isnt afraid to camp the entire match just to frustrate the shit out of you is a scary thing for squads who think they can walk all over Lifers. With the core of SE back, I expect some disgusting upsets over the remainder of the season. 7. Access Denied Ahh AD, this squad has always been great to me and Ive had some of my best memories playing for Chaos Blade and co. Ive got to be harsh here because to me, this is one of the weakest AD sides Ive seen in a while. Some of these players are completely new to USL and have absolutely no USL experience, so its up to CB to guide these players and hope they flourish into something good. AD is basically pinned on to finish last this season, but you have to give credit to CB for keeping the squad afloat and bringing new players into the league. Some positives I do see are Draco and s.f. Ive played most of my infantry career alongside these two and I know what they are capable of. Draco is a very decent support marine who is relatively inconsistent in my eyes. Some days he plays like a top 10 marine and other times hes bang average. If Draco can get himself to show up as that high caliber marine hes capable of, he can find himself carrying the squad. S.f. is also a great medic who I personally love annoying :>. Hes always been a solid, reliable medic and is not afraid to be aggressive. Key Player: Its gotta be CB. Hes the leader and best marine on the squad by a longshot, so the success of the squad is in his hands. To be honest, I dont think he is the greatest leader, can be too aggressive at times, but he does have a good understanding of the game. When CBs head is not clouded with shit talking, hes a top marine. CBs most valuable asset is his ability to step up on match days and perform under pressure. I cant tell you the amount of times CB has broken open battles on his own in crucial situations. CB is a deadly marine, and if Draco and sf can step up alongside him, they might be able to grab a few wins from the bottom teams.
