Terms of Service
Welcome to the Unified Skirmish League (USL). USL is a competitive community for the game Free Infantry, operated as a non-commercial hobby project by a single webmaster. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these terms. We’ve kept them short and plain-English.
Accounts
- One account per person. Creating multiple accounts is not allowed and is grounds for a ban
- No impersonation. Don’t pick a username that pretends to be someone else — another community member, a staff member, or a well-known public figure
- Keep your credentials safe. You’re responsible for what happens under your account. Don’t share your password
- Be honest. If you register with an email, use one you actually control. Account verification depends on it, as does password recovery. It does not need to be your primary or personal email
Acceptable use
USL is a competitive community, but it’s also a community. To keep it functional and welcoming:
- No harassment. Don’t target other players with insults, slurs, threats, or personal attacks. Trash talk in-game is normal; targeted abuse is not
- No hate speech. Content attacking people based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, or disability is not allowed
- No cheating. This includes use of unauthorized game modifications, exploiting bugs for competitive advantage, multi-accounting to manipulate ratings, or coordinating to throw matches
- No spam. Don’t flood the forums, chats, or any other communication channel with repetitive or off-topic content
- No NSFW content. Profile pictures, biographies, forum posts, and any uploaded content should be appropriate for a general audience
- No doxxing. Don’t share other players’ personal information without their explicit consent — that includes real names, home addresses, workplaces, or any identifying details outside of what they themselves have made public
- Follow staff direction. If a referee, moderator, or admin asks you to stop or change a behavior, do so. Disputes can be appealed afterward; arguing in the moment makes things worse
Your content
You own the content you create on USL — your forum posts, profile customizations, analyst writeups, and so on remain yours. By posting content on USL, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, store, and reproduce that content on the site for the purposes of running the community. This is so we can show your posts on the forum, archive them, quote them in moderation discussions, etc.
If you request account deletion, your personal information is anonymized but content you posted (forum threads, posts) is retained in the league’s public history under a pseudonym. If you want specific posts removed, you can request that separately when you submit your deletion request.
Moderation
Rule violations are handled by USL staff. Depending on severity, consequences range from:
- An informal warning
- A formal warning recorded on your account
- Temporary suspension from participating in matches, posting, or accessing certain features
- Permanent ban from USL
Staff aim to be fair and proportionate. If you believe an action against your account was a mistake, you can contact the Webmaster to appeal. Repeated rule violations escalate consequences.
Particularly serious violations (real-world threats, doxxing, severe harassment) can result in an immediate ban without prior warning.
Termination and deletion
You can request deletion of your account at any time. Your personal information will be removed and your identity replaced with a pseudonym across the site. Match records and aggregate stats remain under the pseudonym, since they involve other players whose records reference yours. See the Privacy Policy for details.
We can terminate accounts that violate these terms. Banned accounts are typically not deleted — they remain on file so the ban can be enforced and the record preserved. However, even a banned user retains the right to request their personal information be anonymized; the anonymization process still applies (though the ban itself remains in place under the pseudonym).
If USL itself ever shuts down, we’ll give reasonable notice in advance and offer users a way to export their data before deletion.
Disclaimers and liability
USL is provided “as is” with no warranties of any kind. We do our best to keep the site running and accurate, but:
- The site may have bugs, outages, or downtime
- Match results, ratings, and stats can occasionally be incorrect; corrections are made when found
- User-generated content (forum posts, profile info) reflects the views of the user who posted it, not USL or its staff
- We aren’t liable for disputes between players, for any damages arising from your use of the site, or for content posted by other users
To the extent allowed by law, USL’s liability for any claim arising from your use of the site is limited to the amount you’ve paid to USL — which for the vast majority of users is zero.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a meaningful way, we’ll update the date at the top and post a notice in the news section. Continued use of USL after a change means you accept the updated terms. If you don’t agree, you can request account deletion.
