We had 50 people respond to the poll indicating that they would play an 8th season. That 50 included 6 captains and almost all of the actively refereeing staff members from last season. That's a pretty good indication that the community wants another season and the poll also indicated that you guys would love to implement a salary cap. I'm going to move forward with the off-season activities as if there was going to be another season, but it's important that everyone follows along with the plan below and pays special attention to the major risks/issues at the bottom of the post.
<u>Proposed Off-Season Timeline:</u>
1) <b>By 7/9 (next Sunday)</b>, you should declare yourself as a FREE AGENT if you wish to participate in the upcoming season. There will be an opportunity for anyone that joins late to get in as well, but we'll work that out in the captain/staff forum.
- During this time, we'll choose 5-10 players to help rate the participants to assign salaries.
- During this time, we'll choose captains for the upcoming season (please vote in the poll if you want to captain a squad)
2) <b>By 7/16 (the following Sunday)</b>, all players should be rated and salary caps assigned. Squads will be formed and salary caps will be issues. Captains will be responsible for keeping themselves in check in terms of salaries (the website will likely not be changed at this time). There will be a sticky post in the captain's forum to help guide that conversation and we'll likely have a public google spreadsheet that a few people have access to update and edit.
<i>- NOTE: I'm strongly encouraging you guys to NOT change your alias during this next season as it will complicate any manual tracking involved in salary caps.</i>
- From 7/9 to 7/16, we'll put a poll up around referees - please look for it and volunteer if you want to help out next season. It would be great to have at least a couple of referees per squad.
3) <b>Season Start: 7/23</b> - Business as usual, but again - captains will need to monitor their salary caps to ensure that you're under the limit when making moves.
