another small update: added the new post count back and I think it's working. also made it so if you haven't been to a post in a while and there's more pages than the last one you read the posts on the following pages will still be marked as new so you don't lose track.

next step: try to add a link that will take you the most recent post that you haven't read yet. basically the post after the last one you read in the topic. but that's tricky.


please let me know if you see any weird bugs.

New forum update: If you've visited a topic before and there are new posts on it you'll see a "newest first" link that will take you directly to the most recent post that you have not seen yet. This will only work if you have opened the thread before. Otherwise it assumes you have not see any posts in that thread and you will start from the beginning. And this will only work on posts going forward and not posts from before.

Another update: Forums are now sorted by new posts. Clicking on a forum link from the left menu will take you to the forums with only new posts showing. If there are no new posts you can click "View All" to expand and view the forums like normal.

If there are stickied topics in the forum they will always be displayed.

Also make sure you use the Mark All Read feature for this to start working properly. If you haven't marked a specific forum read at all it will bug out and there's nothing I can do to fix that.

Now add an option to hide stickies

I can't do that right now with the way things are setup without doing a bit of re-coding. But why would you want to hide stickies?

I'm starting to hate the view all crap. If there are no new posts, it makes it seem like the forums are old or not used anymore from a new person's perspective.

New person? Do we get new people?

If someone is actually new and they register today every post is marked new to them so they'll have pages of topics to read through. This feature is made for the people who read the forums regularly and just want to see the new stuff.

It's easier to get right to what's new without sticky posts but it's already easy with the updates now. Although I'd rather just be able to hide stickys and see all the current posts even if I have seen them. Probably not worth the effort however.

The ones you read were never at the top it always went by the date posted. This one puts every new topic or topic with new posts there which saves load times.

Added a forum search function. There will be a link at the bottom of the forums that will take you to a search page.

You can search within the forums you currently have permission to access. You can sort the search by newest first or oldest first. But after searching you can also click the Date Posted tab to switch it if you change your mind.

Is it just me or does it not display how many pages a thread has?
