"try changing your tactics. different class combos, different leading styles and unpredictable plays, etc.. if something isn't working then try something different. the amount of times I've seen squads trying the same thing over and over and expect something different to happen is staggering.

Infantry 101 (free of charge):

- ALWAYS get the better angles before you start shooting. hesitating or backing up leaves you completely exposed and people will take advantage of that 9 times out of 10. being able to get the drop on the enemy with better position is such a huge advantage.

- pushed a small choke and your whole team dropped like flies? maybe don't push those chokes until you're more comfortable with it or let the enemy come to you.

- can't get the edge against a certain squad in the open? try fighting from behind cover or indoors.

- don't try and perform radical flanks that take too long and leave your other team exposed. try to stay as close as you can to one group until you're comfortable enough to send flanks at the right time.

- don't setup silly ambushes that will get the rest of your team killed holding on to a LAW you've had saved for 20 minutes just to get 1 kill while the rest of your team dies

- focus fire is key. the better you get at focus fire the more battles you'll claim. being able to call out a target and have your entire marine power switch to them immediately will help you win more battles especially if it's against an over extended medic.

- protect your medics. they're the backbone to your team. unless they're CC and are charging out in front of you. in which case you're probably doing something wrong as a marine.

- know when to be aggressive and when not to be. overextending yourself while your team has a good position is not worth it. its best to hold on to that position until it's the right time to push in.

- always take advantage of numbers. count the red dots on your radar. if you're on a team of 5 and fighting a team of 3-4 you need to put a lot of pressure on them because your other team is fighting outnumbered.

- know when the battle is lost and cut your losses. there's no point in feeding anymore kills to the other team because you're too slow to fall back. those kills can add up at the end of the match.

- count your bullets and the enemies bullets. it's very easy to know when someone is about to go on reload. it's much easier to kill someone when they're on a reload. and try not to use SG in between AR reloads unless you absolutely have to because it will put your AR on a longer load and leave you exposed from range.

- separate the medics from their marines by throwing nades between them. if done right the medic will need to reposition themselves, leaving the marine in the open for focus fire.

- keep an eye on the enemy when you're in a stalemate battle. sometimes players will switch from one team to the other to try bolster the numbers and make a push. if both teams are aware of this then you should never get a surprise rush." - Champion

Took me awhile to sift through the forums but I found it courtesy of Champion himself

This one comes from being a bit more observant but follows suit with counting numbers..

If you know someone is missing chances are likely they are doing a solo flank to try and break said stalemate open. if you watch squads sb and player tendencies you'll be able to pick out players that are likely to be soloing and if you don't see them in that group youre fighting already keep eyes on your flank.

I never even thought to count rounds. How many are in a clip?

Marine AR is 30 bullets
LMG is 50 I think

tips for medics:

- A medic's survival is the most important part of any team fight, your team can have great positioning, and angles, and good focus fire, but if you're caught out in the open and die, you'll lose that battle 9/10 times.
- Just like Champion pointed out, your positioning, and your team's positioning is the most important part of any team fight. If you see a marine is caught out of position and being focused, you can attempt to save them if you think it's possible that both of you get out afterwards, but if you know that when they die, you will be killed right afterwards, just abandon them and stick with the people who are positioned properly. Cut your loses and hope for the best.
- Your grenades are just as important as your Medkit. Get used to knowing where and when you can throw them, call out for your team to group up and nade spam over a rock, or throw that nade in a choke point that you know they are going to try to flee through, you'll get most of your kills with grenades and not your PDW.

Another helpful tidbit while leading and you still assign whose flank etc...

There is nothing wrong with co-leading unless you contradict one another or argue about what you should've done etc. If you run a solo make sure they can communicate via mic how close they are to engaging or how many came up to answer his flank( this will allow you to apply pressure)

Flank - You need someone on flank with a mic to help call out their focus fire and again for counting numbers.

Main- its pretty obvious they all go hand in hand. Biggest thing is having a mic'd player on each team that can coordinate with the main leader,.

Example: sitting on MGs mumble during their last match I noticed that they did switch up leading but for the most part either;

a) octavian was shoving out way too far and kept getting caught out
b) lyric calling everything kr when he took the lead, doesn't really help if your leader doesn't know the map
c) Once lyric took over everyone else kind of went silent until lyric died then someone would step up and help call things out.

A lot of teams put all the pressure on one person to do all the talking which definitely can impact their playstyle.

Just basics though, know when it's time to heal and when it's time to fight. Did you just have to spam heal someone and have no energy? fire some rounds at the closest target (PDW range is shit), don't randomly throw grenades though, as you won't get them back till you either win that fight, or you die. They are way too valuable to waste hoping to do 20 damage with shrapnel.

Are you in a CQ fight? use physics to your advantage if you can, as 9/10 times they will try to focus you down before any marines around you, them focusing on you and firing into the corner of a rock or a tree while you tippy toe around it will give your marines free reign to focus on them.

As much as it hurts the eyes, I'd advise playing with ?showphysics and ?showvehicle on, as a medic's movement is what separates the best from the worst. I know you'll hate trying to see those cyan blue bullets over water/openings because of their AWFUL green physics, but suck it up... you bumping into that rock or tree physic and slowing yourself down so you eat that extra few bullets is what is going to kill you a good majority of the time.

On that note, can we change the fucking color of the water physics already? maybe something that doesn't completely make marine bullets invisible till they are inside your asshole.

MG only having real experience on EC and KR doesn't help us much at all for sure

people play with show physics?! that shit always hurt my eyes

I started out with physics on, but after a while you got a good idea or even memorize what physics are where

When Champ can perform as good as he is now on a lower tiered squad I'll read that, lol

Ernie, when are you writing your guide on how to carry bad squads?

remember when I carried you on apoc? does that count?

Maybe I should do a writeup, for super good player on an aggressively mediocre squad and how to make your stats look good by dominating stat pad games.
