Battle of the Best, probable championship preview.

Breakdown

This week we get the two unbeatens squaring off in what should be a good match. friend (3-0) and Stiletto Nails (3-0) will both be looking to improve their record and be sitting in prime position for the #1 seed for playoffs. These two squads both feature lineups that are capable of beating one another on any given night, so expect a tightly contested match.
friend:
Let's start off with friend. This bunch led by Sov is looking to extend his dominant run on the league. As typical of a Sov led squad expect these guys to do a good job of gaining or giving position to put themselves in advantageous situations. Having played these guys a good bit in prep for this weekend they have definitely been getting the work in to try and exert their will this weekend. They are solid from top to bottom. They have excellent Marines and medics and if Sov can get these guys focused they, as always, are a force to behold.
I think they will need their med play to step up this week. While Rob has been a great surprise this season, one of Cup/Slob will need to step up and fill the void left by these guys having Iron and Sov playing Marine this season. KR is a very open map, and to be effective these guys will need to avoid the early LAW deaths and keep their squad in the fight.
Speaking of Marines, they have an extremely aggressive/talented group that will look to impose their playstyle and pressure SN the entire match. With Chris returning to papa-Sov look for these guys to press the issue and pace this match.
Projected Lineup (8v8):
Sov (Marine)
Iron (Marine)
EASOE (Marine)
Sol (Marine)
Chris (Marine)
Devil/Yosh (Marine)
Orochimaru (Medic)
slob (Medic)
Stiletto Nails:
Stilleto Nails enters this match having just dispatched AI last week. I think this group has the raw ability to play with any squad in the league, but they suffer from the lack of SB's I've seen them actually have. While KR is an old staple in terms of play it would have benefited these guys to actually play some on it this week together to prepare for this match. Jane must not be cracking the whip as much, but she did get rid of dave so they are already doing productive things to improve for this match.
Again, just like for friend I think the medic play is going to be the key to this match. I think Jane and CC are an excellent duo, and they contrast enough to make them really effective. For SN to be effective this week they will need them to be at their best.
Marine wise I think this group is good, but does not have the raw ability that friend's group possess. That is not a knock on them at all, as I think they somewhat hide that and do an excellent job of maximizing what they get from their group and probably are better at getting the most from their roster than is friend. Splittah and ER are going to need to exert their KR prowess and open up some battles the rest of this group can capitalize on. I think when you add to that mix guys like Mecca, Killer, and Fausto you are going to have a chance to win week in and week out.
Projected Lineup (8v8)
Splittah (Marine)
Jordan (Marine/Ripper)
Killer (Marine)
ExTrEmE(1) (Marine)
ER (Marine)
danny/Pant (Marine)
Jane (Medic)
CC (Medic)
As I highlighted I think this is a match that is going to boil down to medic play, and who can strike first in battles. I feel this will probably be a bit of a stalemate for a while until one side finally gets a decisive advantage and presses on the gas. These two squads while different are very much the same. They both have great strengths and few weaknesses. I think SN would have benefited from playing more this week but will still be competitive.
Player to Watch:
Psych, not a player, I think the biggest thing in this match is the fact friend will have home field, and will be playing from Collie this week. I think that will have a boost that could provide them what it takes to get by SN.
Ok real players to watch:
CC - Needs to help his guys stay alive and provide the boost needed to press the pace.
EASOE - Another old guy that can light up a scoreboard. His play will definitely have a positive impact for friend this week.
Final:
I think this match will be close for a while, probably the first 20 mins. or so before seeing SN lose control and let it slip away. I think the lack of SBs I've seen from them this week, and likely playing from Titan will be a bit more than they can overcome. I think it will be fairly low scoring match which is tight the majority of the way with the final score not reflecting the true feel of how close it was.
Good Luck to both teams, looking forward to seeing this match!
