Hey guys!

It's been quiet in game and on the discord for a while during the CTFDL season, so just to throw in some updates that have started to fire off in the last week or so thanks to some raised activity

1. LMG had its overall clip reduced from 50-45. The idea is to make it seem a little less oppressive in fights, but also keeping its place as a powerful support class.

2. Assault Trooper had it's unlimited dashes returned to it, but the cooldown was raised drastically from 30 to 90 seconds. We didn't want it to become the insane jump in, jump out fighter it was, but it lost a lot of use in cutting the dashes down and the class lost its identity. In a firefight, once that dash was used, it just became a worse marine.

3. Ranger has been added and tweaked. We think it's in a pretty good place for play for the season, but more to come after some conversations as well.

4. Biodarts were tested and removed, but this may be revisited again in the future. The biodarts seem fun, but there's some question about just how much power they end up giving higher tier medics with the best aim. Especially medics who end up not needing to heal a lot in fights because their marines are in better positions. It's a free one shot heal for 30 hp and that seemed to make some teams borderline unkillable. A general concensus seems to be that meds are in a pretty good place overall with the increase to firing range last season. BUT everyone does also agree: Biodarts are pretty damn fun. So a revisit to these things in the future may not be out of the question.

6. The season will begin <b>Next Sunday, December 8th</b>

7. I'm working on the schedule now, and I'm also working with a few staff members on rewriting the USL rules entirely. They are pretty much done. I'd like to thank our staff member <b>Grump</b> who spent a LOT of time editing these rules for me a bit as well. Him and I looked over them after his majority rewrite and cleaned up a few things and we think they are in a pretty good spot. I've got a couple people looking at them as well just to make sure nothing was missed, but planning to have those posted by the end of the weekend.

8. We are still hoping to fill out the 5 squads we currently have. A 6th would be ideal, so get the word out to people and lets get the season started back up at the same strength we had before. Welcome as well to the players from other leagues and newer to USL players. Looking forward to seeing a couple of killers come out of it again.

If you think Biodarts kept "some teams borderline unkillable", then you'll be in for a treat when these said teams (I'll use your word here but it's more like individuals) now can play marine but hang back out of range to ping people until they can get healed and be even more... "borderline unkillable"

we fast tracked RPG spams, mortars, AT inifini-dash into the games and then tweaked them. Why do we hesitate on a change for med players to enjoy the game more? If it's really OP then tweaks can be made. What's more is the biodarts are still unreliable, AND a skillshot to boot. We're not talking about a Healing Aura here making their teammates invincible.

Sadly it was medic players who shot the idea down for biodart not bowen LT, it wasnt his decision alone.

Why even change base rape line rules with 3 mins left? No need to allow the winning team more map to run / hide to milk the clock.... also ur just letting the winning team to cross and rape the other team for 3 mins.. oh yay we get to cross the lines to rape the noobs.. doesn't matter just keep the rape line rules as is throughout the game.. would add less confusion all together

biodart is whateve.. I know rom was talking about a skill gap but I would change the min range so that u cant just point blank bio dart someone and actually make it harder to hit people.. I'd change the amount (maybe 5-10 but they drop on certain deaths?) of them so they have to actually be utilized situationally (kinda like the stim) and not just spammed.. unlike the demo noobs that can just spam RPGs all day and have no ammo issues I would actually like the challenge and it could create some thrilling moments in games

I didn't see anyone in pub using biodarts well so idk what the uproar about them is all about. Good medics are still going to be good medics, and shit medics are still gonna be shit medics no matter what we do.

A better change would be just what Rom suggested in making the heal range more easy to judge as currently you have to guess how close you have to be to people in order to heal them. God forbid you're next toterrain, or don't have your player vehicle pointing in their direction, feels like the heal range bounces around depends on what is happening instead of just being a set distance.

I liked my original biodart that healed or did damage depending on who it hit, but not enough playtest went into that for adjustments to ammo quantity/cooldown/min range.

doesn't matter what you change the skill gap will always be there unless you get better at the core mechanics of the game
