This is a rule change proposal to get more maps played in regular season.

Option to get more maps played.

Some diversity would really help the league and bring out new strengths / weaknesses from all the squads.

4 map choices, EC - Apollo - KR - Bombs

This section is for the home team only.

After the home team chooses their map pick they are no longer allowed to pick said map for the rest of the regular season, until they have played at home on each of the following maps, as a home team. (4 listed above)

If season is longer than how many home games you have, you can pick from all the maps again after you have played a home game on each map.

If the home team defers and lets the away team pick the map. The away team is allowed to pick from the remaining maps of the versus home team. Still leaving the home team with side of picked map. The map picked will be listed as picked from said home teams remaining home games.

So if you only have 2 maps that your team hasn't played this season depending on who you face it may benefit to defer knowing you'll get the "preferred" side if you strategize enough.

When your team is away none of the maps played on count towards your map selections for the season, even if home team defers. We will always base map selection and side selection based off the home team preferences and availability. Home team / away team will only choose side or map like normal.


When any squad reaches the max number of home games with how many maps are being played on. For their final home game, hitting our max number of maps they will get to choose the side of forced map based off what was previously chosen.

This will finally give some advantage and more strategy to all teams. Plus home field will mean more than what side of apollos/ec do you want 90% of the time. We can just save that for playoffs.

Playoffs would continue how we play them currently. Top seed chooses map or side.

Let's not go from what was already picked in previous weeks (unless we would want to)
Easier to start fresh, no maps picked yet.

Examples:

Week 3 INfamous @ Mara Salv.

MS can choose to defer and let infamous choose from remaining maps available to MS. (4 total maps) Or MS can choose map (EC). Now MS cannot play on EC as the home team until they have played on all other maps as the home team. ( Regular season only )

Now lets say we are in week 9.

Let's say blessed from behind has already played KR,Bombs as the home team they can choose to defer leaving infamous with choosing Ec/Apollo knowing theyll get the side they want.

Lets go to the last week to see the real advantage of being a home team.

Week 10 Black spades @ infamous

Infamous has played 3 other maps to this point in the season. Leaving them with only lets say KR. To bring in some real home advantage when you play your last home game of all map types your forced to play your last map but you ALSO get to choose which side you would like.

The example from week 10 only happens when said squad (home team) is landing on the max number of maps played. So there is a possibility a team could get side advantage without a map choice halfway through the season. They would just start from all the maps again next home game in the following weeks.

I know we are already 2 weeks into the season but if we wanted to implement this upcoming week we could easily do it with all maps still stated as not chosen, and start fresh.

Black spades only has 3 home games left, which would leave them not playing all 4 map types as a home team. Blessed from Behind has 5 home games left which would leave them playing 1 map as home twice.

So on that 4th home game Blessed would get to choose what side they want on the last remaining map. But for their next home game (5th home game) It would reset and all maps would be available for them to choose from in that last home game or defer if they choose to.
Black spades wouldn't get the chance to have the side advantage of a max map selection with only 3 games remaining.

But we can also just recall what maps were picked and start at that point also.

I proposed a better rule...

Home team chooses the map AND what side. That is TRUE home advantage.

I will need to mull this over. Interesting proposal. I would suggest not initiating such a change during an active season, but instead between seasons. Other than that though, it requires some thinking on.

Backs I wouldn't mind doing it the old way of just using 1 map and home picks side.

But if we have all the maps open and you choose side, only kr would be played.

Just tired of same maps over and over. People want to think the squad they're on is good. Lets see when you are forced to play all maps both sides.

By the way who cares if you strategize to have your home field advantage work for you squad vs better squads. The opposing team is hopefully doing the same.

Theres only 4 maps. The old system had us stuck on the same map all season. Just because people happen to always choose the same maps isn't a good reason to ditch this system.
Edit the maps, or be capt and choose the one you prefer..

You being "just tired of playing the same maps over and over" isnt a good argument.

The current system has squads hoping for sides. Most squads defer in an important match. With this system if you defer you could be setting yourself up for better or worse.

In your system, does home team always pick side, too?

If the home team is limited on map choice, and can't pick the side either, then all you are doing is destroying home team's advantage even further than it already is.

If the home team always picks the side, but is limited in map choice, that's not too bad.

would the people who know how to make maps be willing to collaborate to edit the less used maps (lava zone?) or create a new zone?

It's not just willingness.. the map editor is outdated and doesn't work with windows 10. If Jovan/Mizz ever got around to updating an editor I could do it.. but I'm sure it's the least of their priorities right now.

What other video game league has a home field advantage? Don't the ELeagues just alternate sides each match? Can we do that somehow?

No. Each squad picked whatever map they wanted, So Sonichu could of picked EC vs MS week 1 but MS could of picked KR week 4.

I'm thinking 15 minutes one side 15 minutes the other side if possible. Sort of how CSGO does things. We shouldn't really look at how sports(NBA MLB) do things. Should look at eleagues, so one day we could be on the main stage talking shit to each other.

Instead of doing two 15 minute matches we did two 30 minute matches. Or an idea I proposed a long ass time ago, and while Staley was admin proposed it - smaller maps (green v yellow) 4v4 or 5v5 with shorter games, doing best of 3.

I really like the idea of 4v4/5v5 matches. Seems more appropriate for the size of the league. Take some excerpts from the current maps that would be suitable.
