So there's a lot of things to consider in this rule proposal imo.

I'm willing to work out the specific language and then let the community decide on it. But I think we need to make sure we dot all our i's and cross all our t's before that vote comes, just so everyone knows exactly what they're voting on.

There needs to be a validation check before anyone is eligible. If a new alias and usl site account is made just before a match, they should be verified before being eligible to play. Simple shit that we did in SBL.

Should leave the rule in place to protect the team from signing injured players. Before I signed on champion, we had to do medical checks on him to make sure we weren't going to sign an injured player. Will take this USLPA if needed.

Copied from a different thread. This was my suggestion. This would do what Jordan was suggesting as well. Player x is eligible whenever he is added as the first join of the season is waived and then you’d do a pre join wait and be eligible immediately.

I don’t mind upping limits but I think the roster movement needs addressing. I had mentioned before that we should change how players are deemed eligible. Use the system SL had with lesser wait times to reflect the current population size. This would take some work from Champ to do though and I could understand him not wanting to put the time in for it.

Proposal:

Players must serve wait times prior to joining a squad or the free agent list.

In the off-season there is no penalty for leaving/ being removed from a squad until 1 week prior to start. This keeps players from impacting 1st week games.

Players that have yet to join a squad for the season have no initial wait timer.

Players leaving a squad must serve a 15 day wait prior to being able to join a new squad.

Players being kicked must serve an 8 day wait.

Players wait times are on the front end. After said wait they are eligible to join a new squad and be immediately eligible as a roster player.

This wait would also need to be served prior to being eligible to join the free agent list meaning they would not be eligible to “NT” and again impact a match as the rules currently state a player must be on the FA list to NT.

Just a thought. I understand the current system is what it is and is designed to work the same but think this would make the refs lives easier, and help deter players moving squads.

In what part of that is he somehow a victim of the league? Everyone is subject to the same rules, and everyone else joined squads in a timely manner such that they were able to participate in week 2.

There is no problem, and no need for a new rule.

Wasn’t using killer as the example here. SL just had a better roster eligibility setup than USL ever did. Killer would have been eligible for both from my suggestion. The difference is players leaving before the lock can’t join another squad until they serve a wait time first.

Note I think if memory serves me right. Newly created accounts during the season were also forced to wait 8 days prior to being eligible to join a squad.

The 8 day wait period next to your name more or less covers that. Instead of not being able to join the squad, it initiates the waiver period upon squad join. This was to cover people squad hopping whenever they felt like instead of gaming the timer.

And this also allows them to be on the roster as a potential NT in case the squad doesn't have enough eligible players.

Personally, I think we're looking too deep into this and could possibly just discuss adding a "Ineligible players can be waived if captains agree" note to the rule or something. But I fear that will just open a can of worms and start unnecessary drama when a captain says no just to spite the other squad. Which is basically how this league has been going since FI started.

Right. It is essentially the same thing. But what would change is a player being able to leave squad A and join squad B prior to the lock. Serve the wait after lock on a roster or be in any way able to impact matches.. same idea in theory. Just thought SL always implemented it better with its setup. Again not that I care overly one way or another. Just a suggestion on a way it could possibly improve as it makes anyone joined on rosters eligible. Players can’t leave a squad and NT until after the time is up.

Meh if someone wants to leave their squad and join a new one before the roster lock then let them. The roster lock is basically put in place to say "Hey get your shit together and figure out what squad you want to be on" anyways. The small punishment is that they can't play their next game. Which in some cases is important when trying to finalize playoff seeding. Trying to be too restrictive these days just leads to logging in and seeing 500 new forum posts in general discussion. If we really want to eliminate any of this shit then remove waiver times altogether and do roster lock at the beginning of season.

So here is MY question. I was on SN and I left. If I return to SN, do I have to wait 8 days? Considering I was technically on a squad, but going back to the squad that I was already on. =) lol

New Beginning isn't even an active squad in the league.

Different squad means active squad in the usl season.

Caligstar cannot be subject to these rules, he is a god among infantry players.
