There are theories though that Bran Stark is Brandon the Builder, a hero/folklore character from ancient times. He's the guy who built the Wall and Winterfell. Bran could have maybe gone back in time to help prepare humanity for the long night in the present time. But, Bloodraven has brought up the idea of changing the past/future to Bran recently. He says something along the lines of "the past is written, the ink is dry" when talking to Bran in an episode earlier this season. Maybe Bran is different and has powers that Bloodraven did not possess?



The other way to look at it is through the destiny/fate idea that all things that are going to happen were meant to happen and whatever you do to try to change it is already part of the history
