A new mode in Cazzo Forge was released a couple of days ago that has flown under the radar a bit. No in-game guide has been created yet, so I figured I'd make a quick one. Scrap metal drop rates have been increased a large amount in co-op, so getting started is easier than ever.
What is [RTS] Mode? It is your own personal base in your own personal arena that saves. You can build your base anywhere within the I5 area. In the top left is a room with a door that only you can open. This is your personal Vault, and you can store items in it. Just drop the items in there and they will save.
Why play [RTS] Mode? As you build up your base, you get a steady income of scrap metal, refined iron, and in-game cash every 4, 8, or 24 hours, depending on what buildings you build. Resource producing buildings are upgradeable, to increase the amount they produce. In future updates, there will be squad bases that your whole squad can work on. Also upcoming will be base on base combat, so that should be fun.
How do I start my base? Type ?go [RTS] yournamehere It is a public arena, and your name has to be typed exactly. Feel free to come look at my base. ?go [RTS] metal
Once you are in your [RTS] arena, F12 to unspec. Buy your first building, a Command Center, for 50,000 cash from the store, or trade in 150 refined iron to the engineer at the top of the dropship. Enter the portal to be teleported to your base at I5. Note that once you place your Command Center, this will be your new spawning point after going into the portal, so I'd recommend placing it somewhere near your Vault, in the top-left. The enemy spawn is going to be in the green dropship at the bottom, so you'll want to leave some space for defense buildings down that way.
Once your Command Center is placed, you can right-click it for new buildings options. There are the 3 main factories that produce other buildings, and the Power Station. All buildings except for the Command Center must be built near a Power Station, much like Pylons in StarCraft. One Power Station covers enough area to support approximately 7 buildings around it. Refer to my base for examples.
The first factory you should build would be the Production Factory. From that building, you can build Scrapyards (scrap metal income every 8 hours), Iron Mine (refined iron income every 8 hours), and most importantly, the Iron Refinery. The Iron Refinery functions the same as the one in the dropship, used for converting scrap metal into refined iron, but it offers a MUCH better rate of exchange, and removes the cash requirement! 30 scrap metal turns into 50 refined iron. Don't bother trading less than 30 in at a time, the rate isn't nearly as good for the lesser amounts.
I recommend only upgrading your scrapyards to level 3 or 4, then build more scrapyards rather than upgrade further. The increase in resource production is static, and the amount of time to earn back your investment from the iron increases exponentially.
The second factory allows you to build Shacks (cash collection every 4 hours), Houses (cash collection every 8 hours), and Villas (cash collection every 24 hours). As far as I can tell, they give about the same amount of money per 24hours assuming 100% on-time collection. I chose 8 hour collections to stack.
The third factory is for Defense. It allows the production of machine gun turrets, rocket launcher turrets, ripper barracks, and marine barracks. The barracks allow you to produce normal, adept, or elite marines for a cash price. Do not build more than 10 total defense bots right now or you will start crashing your client. Fix coming soon for this. I had something like 75 troops in my base last night that HellSpawn had to delete because people's clients started crashing lmao.
Hope this guide helps some of you get started! Feel free to reach out to me here or in-game with questions.
My current income: 1500 refined iron every 4 hours, 64,000 cash every 8 hours
