Hey can we clarify what a match ban entails? Id like to interpret that as the match as a whole, such as he can't even watch it

The overwhelming majority of players don't say anything about the rules until it affects them. Don't forget the people who were head staff/captains for a long time voted to get that rule in, knowing that if a squad didn't have 8 they would be forced to play down a man.
It's actually comical at this point how bipolar this community is. Every other day there's a complaint about the rules. Either how they're written or how they're enforced. I've been very vocal about enforcing the rules consistently or else you will run into issues down the line. Rules have been adjusted to accommodate the population and feedback from the community. But as soon as that rule is enforced it's the end of the world.
It's no wonder the admin position is a revolving door in this league.

You guys have a league that is on a downward trend, but you also have the luxury that CTFPL didn't have in that you aren't hardwired into having a certain set number of players on each side to make the game enjoyable and you want a squad to play a man down?
How the hell is that even a rule what kind of Draconian shit is this? The whole purpose of a league is that people who are on a squad play for their squad and reasonably you would think NTs would only be needed if a squad failed to show the bare minumum or if both captains agreed that a NT or two would be added to balance the teams. To have one squad play a man down is beyond logical comprehension it looks like a rule that is a left over relic of the hey day of this game and that ship left the port along time ago.
This next off-season the powers that be here should scrap every single rule and recodify everything so it seems a little more in touch with reality with this game as a whole.

No one is arguing whether it's a good rule or a bad rule. The problem is that it's still a rule and should be enforced how it is written. Do not expect the community to speak up and try to promote any kind of change. The only thing you'll get is complaints and no input on how to actually fix a problem. And that problem will repeat over, and over, and over.

TLDR; Shit rule, that didn't get enforced by the admin?
This stupid bickering is causing a lot of unnecessary stress, could force people to leave squads.

Rewrite the rule in the off-season but follow it until then.
No matter what you do people will still complain. Giving squads the option of 8 if they have 8 or 7 if they only have 7 instead of a hard defined number still sounds like it will cause more issues than it will fix. Going into a match knowing the default number of players and setting your lineup accordingly is much better than the surprise of finding out you have to sit someone who was ready to play. I almost guarantee you every match will end up being played 7v7 because of this. Which gives a roster size of 13 players no meaning other than to leave people out. You might think you're helping by making it "fair" but you're really not.

Apparently the rule has been enforced differently by everyone.
It wasn't enforced this way in two matches Week 1. I'm assuming two different staff members did this.
I know there's been a few times I didn't enforce it this way before this season (Snakes vs. Send Noobs being an example off the top of my head).
I'm not quite sure how this match became some sort of lightning rod.

thank you apollo for speaking up for the stressed man

Well I've given a viable option to reform it. What's done is done and you are right every single season there's some flare up regarding the ruleset. But instead of looking over the entire ruleset during a off-season and changing it to apply to the realities of this game in this day, this league seems to operate like an underfunded department of public works and just puts a patch over it and hopes there won't be any issues down the road.
Is it so revolutionary of a thought to just scrap everything and start anew come next season? The realities are more than likely this league will keep dwindling down and many of the rules don't acknowledge that reality.
Just get a committee together and look over everything and rewrite it as need be. I agree with you champ this community since the first day I played this game probably the most apt description of it is bipolar. So you can't put any sort of decision in the hands of the entire population people are too fickle. Get a group together that seems to be the most levelheaded and experienced of the lot of you to write everything with the mindset of how does this prolong the sustainability of the league and not how does this effect competition.
I've given my thoughts before regarding the force spec aspect the last time backs did this. It's an incredibly stupid rule to ban someone for the next game because they force specced when simply applying something like 5 kills applied to the opposing side if someone does that. But here we are again with the same discussion almost 6 months later.

Just give F12 a longer timer or remove the ability to press F12 when the *startmatch command is used.

I'm going to lock this thread.
Summary:
1) H. Staff decided I've been enforcing the rule wrong. I strongly disagree. But I left the appeal decision up to them since I was the referee.
2) Backs suspension through Week 3 matches stands. He is a repeat offender who lied and couldn't keep his story straight.
3) FU vs. Bye Week will rematch Thursday night at 10:15 PM EST.

I specced out by accident with less than 30 seconds left and I get a TWO game ban when the rules clearly state a ONE match ban OR a season ban.

Brilliant chris, just make it like 30 seconds. That way you can't really spec out and I would have had as many kills as King in SL.

As far as the rules go I think the rules are pretty straight forward. Maybe some small wording can be changed here and there.
5.2 is sort of a double edged sword. It's a rule to promote activity/play time but also a punishment to squads who recruit poorly or let people leech. If we start removing all of the punishment rules then we should just remove the rules altogether imo.
At the end of the day people interpret the rules every which way except for how they're actually written because no one wants a rule enforced against them or they want the rule to benefit them.
