Only person close to those numbers that I looked at was Split with 46%/15%

but that doesn't inherently mean contribution so it shouldn't hold much weight.

If I'm max ranging a player and hitting them it's not counted if someone closer happens to get the kill and those in proximity get the assist, it's very noticeable if you play ripper/sniper a lot

AT as well since a lot of their stuff is solo, but if a marine has normal assist points its meh doesn't impact my stats view much

But when it's as ridiculous as Jeff's I think it's pretty telling, having more than 50% of your points being assist points is nutty

Could mean that, could also mean he just happened to be in proximity of a few of chompy’s kills (maybe contributing, getting leeched, or just dead and waiting for the respawn timer) when chompy had a bounty going in 2 of the 3 matches that he went deathless in.

Anyone who played pub knows how assist points/kill points work but just to show how skewed they are by bounty - I only had 100 more kill points than chompy did despite having 8 more kills than him in the Birds vs. Darkslayers match. This also happened to be the only game where Jeff’s assist points were out of the normal range compared to non-medics on his squad. Again, maybe getting his kills leeched, just leeching off a teammate’s bounty, or a combination of the two but would be hard to tell without checking the VOD.

Not trying to criticize you, I get you’re trying to use imperfect stats to draw conclusions from and appreciate the time you’ve put into compiling them. Maybe getting rid of bounty and making kill points/assists points fixed would help in making them more useful for ratio / stat analysis. It still ignores situations where someone is out of range but contributed heavily to winning the battle or dies and respawns before their team gets the kills but there’s probably no perfect solution to this.

Getting rid of bounty would help a ton, as would damage stats. There's a lot of different ways to look assist points without other stats we're kind of limited.

I think total hits should be a stat that's collected, then possibly use a player's total hits + teams total kills or(The difference between the player's team Kills/Deaths) minus the player's kills or something to that extent.

we were talking about the new stat tracking in game being used for awards later down the road once they're fine tuned. still slightly buggy / not counting some hits etc.

Ive tested biodarts (deliberately using them and 100% hitting them) and they aren't even close to accurate (for me) .. 1 time I counted like 67 hits and the breakdown had me at 13

Yeah stat tracking can be tricky because of a few things, like accuracy of those stats. We've all seen they aren't perfect, a lot of dumb gerbil brains thing most hits = most effective, but there's a lot of people who just stream from 400 yards away and ask for ammo every 5 mins but those bullets aren't really doing anything. Same would happen with damage done, nothing is perfect and we'd need to find a balance done. My current system usually agrees with the eye test about 9/10 so I'd have to recalc with new stats to make sure that's still mostly the case.

I can fine tune accuracy on hits, damage event radiuses need to be increased. Could do "hits contributed to kill" # of hits instead of counting all hits.

That'd be very good, would be way better than trying to use AP to tell that story now
