According to Armor: Anyone not on CK, IV, or WH who voted for 6 or more squads in the playoffs only did so to ensure their squad played in the playoffs. If you are on a squad ranked 4-8, there's no way you could possibly be looking out for the league while answering polls.

When I voted, I was thinking about the dead weeks at the end of last season when 3 squads were eliminated and unnecessary bye weeks were had.

At this point, I still think 8 squads would be best for the league activity-wise. But I am fine with the idea of having to earn the spot.

I actually held off on any discussion about how many playoff squads (after falling in the standings) to avoid people making bullshit accusations like you have. But you tried to go and pre-date it based on the league analysts. You're full of shit

Nice breakdown. But why does the first two have to be 3 weeks? With 8 squads, just week 1 8 squads, then week 2 the rest? so the down time is only one week for the eliminated squads.

So many people with the mentality that you need to have matches or else the game will die. 4 or 6 squad playoffs, I don't care. People that don't make playoffs - tough shit, start prepping for next season. Towards the end of the seasons everyone always starts forming new teams anyways, so it's not like the game will die.

P.S. - 8 squad playoff makes the regular season irrelevant, I wouldn't bother leading/showing up as much and would play bench players if I knew I didn't NEED a single win during the regular season the still win Champs.

If you're worried about league activity, 4 squad playoff + BOTR is the most logical choice by far. It cuts down the total time spent to 2 weeks so win or lose people can move on and get hyped for the following season.

6 squad playoff sucks because it introduces needless bye weeks and drags things out longer.

I don't buy the argument for an 8 squad playoff. How is it good for league activity to have SA/Legends lose by 100 against CK/IV and then still have to sit out for 2 weeks following? It's not. Those extra 2 games are the only "benefit" of an 8 squad playoff vs a 6 squad playoff.

Regardless of what is decided I think the playoff structure should be set in stone prior to the start of the season next time around.

Darth goes back and forth about whether or not he liked Skirmish League daily. Apparently today he's not a fan.

I personally agree with what Prisoner said. Whatever the format of the playoffs, I think we should keep it at two weeks or less. Too long of a postseason costs valuable player interest in the league as teams drop off week by week. I think USL naturally lends itself to a 4 squad playoffs, 4 squad BOTR tournament format.

Best of the Rest Tournaments are a really fun, unique way to keep lower-tier squads interested in the league. I think the community should consider supporting adopting it as a permanent fixture especially with 8 or more squads in the league, and we should design postseason to always be completed some form of a two-week time frame.

That's my two cents anyway.

BotR - great idea. In SL my squad improved a lot by playing others around our skill level, helped us going forward start making the playoffs.

Will keep other squads active also.
