All that changes are the playoffs, so wouldn't it be more reasonable to do it now rather than have another inactive 3 week period followed by playoffs at the end of this season? I don't see what it would matter to do it for this season if that's what people wants.

The reason in asking is because there would not be any byes this way as the match A/B/C could be played in one week and D/E the next. Playoffs would be completed in 2 weeks which isn't bad at all. It would keep 6 squads active right up to playoff match because they would all be playing week 1 of playoffs and everyone logs in to see the champ game. Let me know if im missing something!

Let me ask you fine folks a question.

All this talk about "6 squad play-offs" preserving activity. Why not 8 squad play-offs? Would that not bolster activity even more? You know - since 2 more squads get in. (Same concept you guys are using here.)

I agree with staley. If we make it 6 squads then the regular season basically doesn't mean anything.

We could potentially do that, but lets take baby steps first and see how 6 squads being including for playoffs affects the activity. If we find success with this, then obviously having an inclusive structure for playoffs, might be even more beneficial for sustaining the league.

Like Mecca said, people are still going to give 100% on sundays regardless.

You're incorrect leak and if you read the whole topic it's explained why.

Staely, the bottom two squads hardly show to matches as is. There's no activity to gain with them. If they're not showing week 1-3 they ain't showing week 7-8. Past seasons have proven these same two aquads stop showing. It's not the same concept -at all-. 6 squads is the best number to promote activity for our league while still having the season mean SOMETHING, just not -as- much.

Ask yourself a question, do you want this game to be the most active it can be? Or are you just here for another season or two until it fades? You're the admin of a PLAYER RAN LEAGUE, you're supposed to have the leagues best interest your first priority, not what you feel is best for competition. If players want something as simple as a poll, you should be more than willing to do it even if it's not what you want. It's not a admin ran league or staff ran league for that matter. Everything you make decisions on should be with the overall leagues best interest on your mind. Again it's not always gonna be what you want, but that's why you were put in the position, because people thonk you can make those dicisions.

6 squads is a comprise that keeps the so called meaning of regular season and addresses the late-season activity issue.

If the whole purpose is to increase activity there's nothing to warrant 6 squads over 8 squads. 8 squads eliminates BYEs without some janky play-off set-up. If 6 squads supposedly keeps 6 "active" squads, then 8 squads should supposedly keep 8 "active" squads. If it's not about "activity" then feel free to continue arguing for 6 but there's no way to warrant 6 over 8 based on the activity argument.

I think your real argument is in your last line there, pal, but don't try to masquerade it behind "activity".

I'm being serious. You told me in your previous post that Mudfly/Hypocrites don't matter. Should I have not allowed them into the league and should it have been an all 6 squads make the play-offs league?

I agree that if we do 6 squads, we might as well make it 8. Doesn't make sense to favour the top 6 and ditch the last two. Maybe just do a poll 4 vs 8 squad playoffs. Then the regular season is just for the seed.

If we let everyone in we might as well just have a 1 day single elimination tournament and ditch seasons because then nothing matters.
