Can we have a poll posted in regards to having a 6 squad playoffs?

The only reason I ask is because during the last 4-5 weeks of the season we end up having a tremendous amount of inactivity, and it's probably because people don't have any incentive to stay active if they have 0 playoff hopes.

All I see now is staff trying to rush the end of a season and the start of a new one because of the inactivity, why not try to prevent it?
S
Incentive should let this game die. fucking no good fucks.

I prefer a 4 team playoff format since it makes the regular season mean more but having a 6 team format *might* make people more active, idk if having the 6 seed stomped in week 1 of playoffs is worth it.

All this does is prolong the 5/6th seed squads from going "inactive" for another week. Nothing would change except wasting a week of time.

Palm, my sense of humor hasn't changed, just your sensitivity towards it. I still love you, Kiel. Even though you rage kicked me <3

Would being co captain of my fail CTFPL squad serve as ointment to your wounds, good sir?

I didn't rage kick you scrub. You asked to leave. :-)

Could do 6 with first two rounds in one day.

6 squads doesn't render regular season games useless I don't know where that idea even started. People are still going to try just as hard to win every game whether it be 4/6 squads. Plus with 4 squads there's a lot of good players that spend a lot of time and effort that would lose the opportunity to play in playoffs.

I'm with TG exactly.

I prefer the four-team format, because it encourages tougher competition during the season.

But to Ice's point, we do consistently have a rash of inactivity towards the end of the season. I think that's in part due to a lack of playoff potential.

Given that, I would recommend expanding to the 6 squad format, but maybe do it like the NCAA tournament wildcard or "bubble"teams. Give squads #1 and #2 a bye, and play games #3 v. #6 and #4 v. #5. Get it down to four teams that way, so you can increase the participation for post-season, while still semi-maintaining the traditional four squad playoff structure.

You're not considering the 3 weeks of inactivity/no-show possibilities when 50% of the squads are sometimes taken out of the equation, or simply just have no chance of making it after losing a match that was make or break for them. It gives teams the ability to lose games and still know they have a chance to improve for playoffs, its almost like having an extended season where squads play each other twice, but instead we just include more in the playoffs.

Captains rejected 6 teams last season.
I'm personally not a fan of 6/8 teams either.
We did play-offs in one week last season with 4.
What squads will remain active that wouldn't if it was boosted to 6? As Ernie stated, you're only prolonging the season an additional week or 2 of which that inactive would come regardless.

We cannot do an entire 6 team play-off in one weekend (there'd be too many scheduling issues) so it gets pushed back a week and squads go inactive anyway.

4 Squads also promotes more competition.
Can you tell me right now what 4 squads will make the play-offs?
Unlikely.

If it's boosted to 6 squads, can you tell me what 6 squads will make the play-offs?
You have a much higher chance of getting this correct (with no offense to anybody/any squads).

Ice makes a good point though. If you raise the amount of competitors in post-season to six, you increase the probability for each squad to capitalize on a single win that catapults them into playoffs, while decreasing the probability that any single loss will guarantee their denial to playoffs.

At least that's the way it looks to me. It would actually encourage squads to fight for each and every win because of all the potential outcomes of the other matches, and how they could affect the post-season outlook.
