Gentlemen
Howdy, I wanted to take a closer look at some medic stats this season after some impressive performances yesterday. I looked at healing/hpg/games as med/k/d ratio etc.... and so far this is what I've come up with:
HPG: (5 games as med min.)
Flash - 4267 in 5 games
sntr - 3896 in 8 games
Rom - 3753 in 8 games
Neggy - 3677 in 5 games
Thiz - 3344 in 5 games
Stavudine - 3234 in 7 games
Iron - 3012 in 6 games
Thatdude - 2879 in 7 Games
Havok - 2768 in 6 games
Now there is some nuance in those, typically worse squads have more healing available as they're teammates are taking more damage - that's why if you look at raw statistics you see Sntr/Rom on top.
There are a few outliers here though... Flash on a midddle of the road squad averaging almost 400 more heal points per game than a guy on the bottom squad is quite impressive.
The other side of the coin is Havok - a measly 2768 on a top tier squad is not great, you see iron and Stav a few hundred a head of him. But stav is 10-11 k/d and Iron is an insane 33-13.
Meanwhile Havok is 11-26 in his med games.
So where does this leave the overall rankings? Is HPG the only important stat when ranking medics? I don't believe so, limiting deaths is just as important IMO. With all this considered here are my med rankings so far for Season 23.
1. Iron - anyone who's played with him knows he's just insanely good, its very rare to ever see him miss a heal and he allows his marines to work overtime and get positions and kills they wouldn't with any other medic.
His HPG #s are lower than usual at 3012 but there are still 2 games to go and he's sporting a 33-13 K/D ratio right now which is unheard of outside the sovinder househould.
2 - Stavudine - Steve has played a critical role in the #1 seed this season, shaking off the rust of seasons pass (is WoW dead?) HPG is still low for career but being above Iron gives him a pass here, being basically a net neutral on k/d is also a huge positive for him (10-11 k/d).
3 - Flash - Starting out the season LMG it appeared flash's medic days were behind him. Then Pistor reached out and recruited him to start after his medic room was very shaking with Metal leaving. Since then Flash has put up some insane numbers, anytime a med is healing over 4k a game it needs to be recognized because it is very rare this ever happens. Yes hes on a middle tier squad, and still has some bad deaths but when you see him covering for the other meds on his team and going out of his way to heal both groups you have to be impressed.
4 - sntr - For his first real season of league ever? (He said he failed on his Alliance try out back in 2002) he's been putting up some ridiculous numbers, currently #2 in HPG 3896 and #1 in overall heals. To be able to put up those stats in a squad that rarely wins, or even really is in games is still pretty nuts. Unfortuantely he's a liverpool fan so he falls to #4 behind flash. But look for him to join a mid tier squad next year and start pushing for med award considerations.
5 - Havok - As stated above Havok's #s have really taken a hit this year, being under 2800 HPG in 2024 jsut doesn't seem possible. Yes PayPigs play at the slowest pace in the league and maybe that's why these numbers are low. He's had a few instances of brilliance this season (see him somehow surviving in week 5 out in the open against 3 streams) but other times it seems like he dies too easily. If he can round back into last season form in his last 2 games he can move up the rankings.
6 - Romulocks - Just going to throw him in here even though I wanted to only go top 5, kudos to him for sticking it out and playing med every game, I think nexus missed him this weekend, not having an old reliable med there forced Phony in as med and he's too rusty for that as he's usually playing marine. Rom is #2 in the league in healing still with 7 games played and over 3.7k HPG.
