Allow more noobs squads in the playoffs. There is no incentive to log on. It should also keep the noob squads active longer even after elimination. They help the other squads stay active and keep the quality of competition at a higher level(more people playing at any given time means they aren't getting shittier ) than if no one plays, like it is now. Oh and maybe they will take a cue from kippa and camp all game except in this case one team would have bad players.... And the playoffs would be "interesting". I've suggested this before but it's a bad idea because I "only want my squad in the playoffs" so any logic that applies is voided.

Letting all the squads into the playoffs would probably increase activity during playoffs, but only when compared to the activity seen currently. I also believe that activity on the whole would be decreased, as showing up during the regular season will lose a lot of its importance. There wouldn't really be any consequence to losing until the playoffs actually began, unless you consider awards. In the long run, I suspect that opening playoffs to all squads would decrease interest and therefore activity in the league.

I think the incentive to log on would be the BOTR in this case. The problem is, nobody is willing to compete in the BOTR. Everyone is either so fed up with losing a ton that they are done with the season, or frustrated because they believe they deserve to be in the playoffs. Perhaps if we changed the names to Playoffs A and Playoffs B?

To be honest, it really doesn't matter. Don't include everyone, the "stacked" squads compete, one of them wins. Include everyone, there's an extra week of the "stacked" squads beating the shit out of the lower tiered ones, then the "stacked" squads compete, and one of them wins.

Perhaps once we get the rules changed so everyone can be in the playoffs, there will be even more appeals and rule changes to make it more "competitive" to the point that we all just basically log on and vote on who wins.

People played on botr last season that doesn't mean anyone is going to log on to practice for the stellar competition they will be. facing. So there is no incentive. Since botr has been around it means your season is over and if you're bored or have extra time you can log on Sunday and take a dump on someone or throw demo on someone's head. It's like pub, It's garbage. Yeah "you didn't win tough shit" that's not the point. The point is you can skip batting practice when you play a tee-ball team.

What's is important is longevity, activity, and competition

I polled captains weeks ago on the amount of squads in play-offs and captains unanimously voted for 4 squads.

Instead of asking 2% of the population their opinion you could poll it to the entire community?

Why can't we just try it out? if it doesn't work go back to 4 squads the following season, it's not that big of a deal imo.

Likewise, extending the season 1 week (the only way to have 6/8 squads in the play-offs) isn't going to change much. It might be slightly more active for another week, but it's still going to drop down to 4 and then 2 resulting in the same exact outcome.
